GIRLS SURF CAMP:
Overview:
Camp will include 5 days & 4 nights of surfing, kayaking, nutritious
meals & snacks, beach combing, visiting local surf shops, volleyball,
jewelry making , guest speakers & just hanging out.
We feel our surf camp is an excellent place to learn the skills
and techniques of surfing in a non-competitive and supportive atmosphere.
Our goal, "to provide each girl with an unforgettable experience."
Whether it be standing up on a surfboard for the first time, being
inspired by one of our guest speakers, seeing a dolphin out in the
ocean, hanging out around the campfire or meeting new friends.
The camp is designed to provide a social, educational and recreational
experience in a positive and fun environment. "A Girls Only
Surf Camp" will teach girls how to surf or to improve their
already acquired skills. We will also devote our time to instilling
the importance of health, fitness and self-confidence, which are
a few of the benefits of being a surfer.
Lodging:
We have a camp sight at McGrath State Park in Ventura. Our campsite
is outfitted to provide the girls with a comfortable yet rustic
home by the ocean! Our grand 4-bedroom dome tent will accommodate
10 girls. The campsite also includes a kitchen, shade canopy, campfire
ring, and both a badminton & volleyball court.
Meals:
Surfing uses a lot of energy and we will provide the girls with
plenty of nutritious meals. Our camp chef, Jenny Yzaga, has 8 years
of experience cooking on an 80ft sport dive boat, for special group
events out at the Channel Islands. Jenny also has been catering
for the last 13 years in Santa Barbara, CA.
Instruction:
All instructors are seasoned surfers and all are certified in CPR
& First Aid. Two instructors are certified in Lifeguard Training.
Our instructors provide a supportive aqnd nurturing approach to
our non-competitive and fun lessons. Patricia has been teaching
surfing for many years. Before starting her own surf school, Paddy
Bex Surf School, she taught at the world renowned all womens surf
school in La Jolla, CA. Patricia has also taught surfing at a women's
surf spa in Mexico and at Humboldt State University.
Equipment:
All equipment is included. If you have your own wetsuit and/or
surfboard feel free to bring it. We provide learning boards, (a
soft surfboard provided by Surf-Chick)
